Aircraft crashes in rural Jefferson County

On July 1, 2010 at approximately 7:50am the Jefferson County 911 received a call of a aircraft that went down in a hay field west of Phillips Rd. about 2 miles north of U-24 Highway in Jefferson County. Units responding were the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, the Kansas Highway Patrol, Jefferson County Ambulance, Jefferson County Emergency Management, Jefferson County Coroner, Rural and Kentucky Township Fire Departments.

The Beechcraft F33A fixed wing airplane had left Kansas City Airport enroute to unknown location at this time when it was seen going down by a Jefferson County resident. A female and a male were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, names are being withheld until further investigation is complete by the Kansas Highway Patrol and the FAA out of Wichita, Kansas.
