Chase ends with Capture

On August 2,2010 at approximately 2200 hours, officers were dispatched to the Ozawkie area in reference to a subject that was armed with a knife and was reported as mental and suicidal.

Jefferson County Dispatchers broadcasted the suspect vehicle as having front end damage.   A visible was made of the suspect vehicle west of Oskaloosa on 92 Highway.  Deputies attemtped to stop the vehicle by using a maneuver that is known as a rolling roadblock.   The suspect, refusing to stop, swerved and struck a Sheriff's Patrol car,  and then continued east on 92 Highway and then south on 59 Highway.   The pursuit ensued south on U.S. 59 Highway, then  east on U.S. 24 Highway into Douglas County.

Douglas County was in process of setting up spike strips at "Tee Pee" Junction, approximately 3 miles east of Midland Junction where the chase ended. Suspect vehicle turned south onto N2000 Road, where a train was traveling east on the tracks. Suspect vehicle stopped at the tracks, put the vehicle into reverse and rammed the Jefferson County Sheriff's Patrol car, disabling the suspect vehicle, a 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity. Suspect at this time exited the vehicle and surrendered to officers.

Deputies arrested Eric Bradford, 41, of Kansas City, Ks. on muiltiple charges.

Charges are also pending in Douglas County.
