Stolen vehicle recovered - suspects apprehended

On January 17th at 1648 hs, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to 2265 Trego Road on a possible attempted theft of a vehicle and scrap metal.  Jefferson County deputies, along with a Kansas Wildlife & parks officer, arrived and it was confirmed that the truck used was stolen from Nebraska.

Officers approached the stolen truck and it took off at a high rate of speed through the woods.  A perimeter was set up and with the help of the Kansas Highway Patrol, Perry Police Department and Kansas Wildlife & Parks, the stolen truck was located near 13th street and Rice Road.

Three suspects were apprehended near a residence located at 1263 Rice Road.

Arrested and booked into the Jefferson County jail for Felony Theft, Felony Possession of Stolen Property, Felony Criminal Damage and Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement were Shawn Akins of Ottawa, Jacquelyn Akins of Lawrence and Rachelle Hufford of Ottawa.

Other charges are pending.  The investigation continues.
