Possible Drowning at Perry Lake

On August 19, 2016 at approximately 5:43 p.m. , Kansas Wildlife and Parks was dispatched to the Longview area of Perry Lake for a missing boater.  The missing boater was last seen at approximately 3:30 p.m. on his 26 foot sailboat. 

The Kansas Wildlife and Parks, along with The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers searched the water until about midnight.    Kansas Wildlife and Parks resumed the search around 6:30 a.m. on August 20, 2016.  At 7:15 a.m., a body was found in the water west of Longview Park.   The body was later identified as, 46 year old Jeff Miller of Topeka, Kansas, which was the missing boater.

Kansas Wildlife and Parks is working the boat accident along with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.  

The accident and possible drowning is under investigation.
