Governor Sam Brownback appoints Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig to the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has appointed Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig to the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (KSCPOST).  Herrig was appointed on July 1, 2015 to serve a four year term, to expire July 1,2018, to fill an unexpired term due to the resignation of Ford County Sheriff Dean Bush.

Sheriff Herrig has been employed at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office since 1982.  In 1993 he was appointed by then Sheriff Roy Dunnaway to the position of Undersheriff.  On April 4, 2008 he was appointed to the position of Jefferson County Sheriff by then Governor Kathleen Sebelius to fill out the the term of Sheriff Dunnaway.

Sheriff Herrig is a member of the National Sheriffs Association, Kansas Sheriffs Association, Capital Area Major Case Squad, International Association of Property & Evidence, Kansas Chiefs of Police Association, and Midwest Association of Certified Voice Stress Analysts.

On July 22,2009 Sheriff Herrig was appointed by Governor Sam Brownback to represent Kansas Sheriff's on the Kansas advisory group on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency prevention.   In January 2015, Sheriff Herrig was appointed President of the Kansas Sheriff's Association.

The Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training is committed to providing the citizens of Kansas with qualified, trained, ethical, competent, and professional peace officers.  It is also dedicated to adopting and enforcing professional standards for certification of peace officers to promote public safety and preserve public trust and confidence.
