Meriden Area Fires on August 3, 2021 and August 5, 2021

In the early morning hours of Tuesday August 3rd, 2021, Rock Creek Fire, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a vehicle fire in the 7100 Block of K-4 Highway, South of Meriden.  The investigation of this incident determined the fire had been intentionally set.

In the early morning hours of Thursday August 5th, 2021 Rock Creek Fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of three separate fires.  One fire in the 600 Block of Main Street in Meriden where a vehicle and garage were destroyed, one  fire at the Meriden Threshing Bee Grounds, and one fire in a field located at K-92 Highway and Village Greens Road.   The investigation of these incidents determined all three fires had been intentionally set.

On Tuesday August 10th, 2021 The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received information from a concerned parent monitoring their child's social media usage,  that allowed for the identification of three juveniles from Jefferson County as being involved in the starting of all four fires.   All three juveniles and their guardians have been contacted in reference to these arsons, and these crimes are being referred to the Jefferson County Attorney's Office for prosecution.
